Reunion
Welcome one and all to the White House Boys Reunion. We are looking forward to sharing fellowship and good times. One for all and all for one. Come join the celebration and fun you deserve!
Please feel free to invite family and friends to join you at the Reunion. It is going to be extra Special for everyone! The reunion is on Saturday, April 10th, immediately following the Award Ceremony (info below).
We have negotiated a very reasonable group rate for you at the Quality Inn &Suites. You will need to call them at 850-877-4437 as soon as possible, to reserve your room since they have only have 45 rooms reserved at the price of $55 which even includes a very large breakfast buffet! This price WAS only good for reservations made before March 26th -- IT MAY NOT BE TOO LATE FOR THE GROUP RATE, SO PLEASE CONTACT THEM TODAY! Give them our Group Number: 6113 when you call. Handicap/Wheelchair accessible and pet friendly rooms are available as well. (*Please Note! These are ALL No-Smoking Rooms, and there is $150 Cleaning Fee for anyone that smokes in their room. The management appreciates your understanding in this matter.)

to reunion. It would be greatly appreciated. Refreshments will be served after the presentation at the Capital.
There will also be an Auction and Raffle so look around and recycle, spring clean, or just bring something for fun. Please advise Mary regarding Auction and raffle items you might like to donate. This will help offset the cost of chair rentals, police, etc at the Award Ceremony.

Award Ceremony
The Gov. Claude Kirk Humanitarian Award for the protection of children and preventing child abuse
will be presented to Gus Barreiro on Saturday, April 10th on the steps of the Capitol Building, with a ceremony from 10 am till 12 noon. Please arrive about 20 minutes early to be seated. Depending on the number of people attending,
we may have to move to the New Capital Building, so once we get a head count, we'll give the location (Old Capital or New), the address and directions to this event. If you will be attending, please contact Marti at (850) 763 - 4060 because we need to reserve seats.

REUNION &
GOVERNOR CLAUDE KIRK HUMANITARIAN AWARD

Greetings to all White House Boys, family, friends and supporters:
This year's reunion is shaping up to be an exciting and eventful reunion. This year we will be meeting in Tallahassee, Florida on April 10th. This will enable some
of the men to attend, who have been unable to travel further south in the past. We have a special event planned for this reunion. This will be held at the steps of the Old Capitol Building on Saturday, April 10th from 10 am till noon. (However, if the crowd becomes too large, it may have to be moved to the new capitol building steps.)
As most of you know, Gov. Claude Kirk made a visit to FSB Dozier in March 1968 which exposed many of the conditions of the school. He began the process of cleaning up the school somewhat and led to the closure of the "White House". Many of you have spoken with admiration of Gov. Kirk's actions. We think it is time to thank and honor Gov. Kirk, now that the "White House Boys" can come forward, 42 years later, without fearing repercussions. (For those who are wondering about Kelley; he was hired by Governor Kirk)
Therefore, The Official White House Boys Organization has established an annual award, on behalf of all of you, to be bestowed upon an individual who prevents or exposes child abuse-- since that should be our focus. The award will be named the "Governor Claude Kirk Humanitarian Award". Governor Kirk will be on hand to initiate this annual event. He will also receive an award in appreciation of his actions.
Our first recipient of the Governor Kirk Humanitarian award will be Gus Barreiro. Gus put his job on the line, when he allowed some of the White House Boys to participate in the sealing of the White House on FSB Dozier campus. He eventually lost that job. Gus has also dedicated his life in the service of juvenile work and protection. We anticipate a large turn out of White House Boys. We also anticipate other VIP's and media coverage, since we will be sending out press releases and invitations.
Be sure to bring your camera. This is a milestone you will not want to miss. Once again, it will help us if you RSVP as soon as possible. If you plan on attending the ceremony please call 850-763-4060 or email to

Plans are still developing for the presentations and more details will be shared with you on April 9 and 10. We are hoping for a record number of the group to be in attendance. Remember, this is NOT a protest or march. It will be a day of peace to honor Gov. Kirk and Gus. We also have an agreement with Gov. Kirk and Gus that we will NOT address the lawsuit nor any claims bill with them. This would not be appropriate.

SPECIAL EDITION - JANUARY, 2010
It is with our most sincere sympathy for the family of Manuel Giddens and with deepest sorrow that we report that Manuel Giddens went to be with his Maker today, January 18th, just after 9am.
As per Manuel's Request, White House Boy's Pastor, John Marx, will be conducting his eulogy. Pastor Marx and other White House Brothers and many of his family members were by Manuel's side during his final days and weeks, and all were encouraged by his sweet spirit, how much he loved his White House Brothers, and by his inner strength and faith.

Manuel had his White House Brothers in his thoughts and prayers at all times. While in the hospital last week, he asked that the White House Boys be told that he loves them, to stay strong & keep up the fight. He also requested that his son continue in his stead at all reunions and functions. While he was in Hospice, he asked that everyone be told that he did not give up, that he was not a quitter, but that his Lord was ready for him.
In addition to respecting Manuel's request for a Love Offering instead of flowers, we will also be sending a floral arrangement on behalf of all of his White House brothers. There have been many questions as to who The Official White House Boys Organization (TOWHBO) are and why there was a need for a new website. There is no "new" group! We are the Board of Directors Roger appointed at the 2nd Reunion. It is our hope that the following information will clear up any questions you might have.

ANNOUNCEMENT
At this point, we need to make some things clear to everyone.
The group, "The Official White House Boys Organization is being organized by the Board of Directors that Roger picked at the 2nd reunion when he admitted that with the growth of the group "one person cannot do it all by themself." We totally agree with that statement, there is too much work to be done for one person to do by themselves. That is why we have a Board or a "group" of members working hard to represent you. We are NOT a NEW Group. We are the same Board of Directors, with a few other helpers that have been working behind the scenes all along.
We are pleased to announce that the Websites formerly owned and
controlled by Robert Straley and Michael McCarthy have been turned over to Dick Colon and are now part of our data base. Those domain names are in the process of being set up as mirrored sites and will be pointed at your site athttp//www.theofficialwhitehouseboys.com. As soon as that process is completed,
anyone who logs on to one of the former sites will be automatically directed to ours.
This notice is necessary because another site maintained by one of our
members is reporting the existence of three (3) White House Boys
Organizations. With the former Straley organization merging into ours, and the other group by choice not being an organization but rather a
"Brotherhood", it leaves only our group The Official White House Boys to represent our joint interests.
We promise to do that in a positive and dignified manner. Something the
membership can be proud of.

An email from one of the members that we received this morning said it best:

....the websites are NOT the White House Boys. The guys can participate with both web sites, either one or none, and still be a member of the WHB. They don't HAVE TO CHOOSE ONE OR THE OTHER. This is not a game where you have to choose sides. WE'RE ALL ON THE SAME TEAM. The website is nothing more than a communication tool. I'm in the process of building one for the magazine. What about the poor guys that doesn't have a computer and never goes to the web? Does that leave them out of the WHB? NO!!!

MANUEL GIDDENS NEEDS YOUR PRAYERS. HE IS NOT DOING TOO WELL. WE'LL START WITH THE MOST RECENT NOTE FIRST:
Today we heard from Manuel's sister, Bertie, regarding his failing health:
"Manuel is being evaluated tomorrow for special care. He can no longer be alone and he told them he is ready. He is very weak. He will be close to home so he will be within visiting area for many."
She is very worried for his sons, although they have tried to do for him, some things are a bit too much for the family. He needs professional care now. She asked us to say Thank you to everyone for all your prayers and caring.
One member said of Manuel, "I am so proud to call him my friend. He was the sunshine of my day at the reunion and every time he called us. What a walking testimony of strength. And he wears the armor of Faith daily."
THE NEXT IS HIS SON'S NOTE TO US LATE LAST WEEK, TELLING US ABOUT HIS FALL. IT IS ON THE WEBSITE, AND WE WERE JUST ABOUT TO SEND THIS OUT WHEN WE HEARD FROM HIS SISTER, WITH THE INFO ABOVE.
"I just wanted to let you know that my dad, Manuel, fell down on sun at home and has broken arm in three places,,he is doing ok,as can be expected and has not been on-line much,,due to his computer broke..please pass on the word for prayers and support for my dad to all his fellow brothers...I will keep you informed..Thanks. God Bless!!"
IN SUMMARY:
We would like to point out, once again, in summary:
1. The Official White House Boys Organization is still the same group of people that you've seen on the microphones and working behind the scenes at the reunions (although we may be minus a few who choose not to be organized). We will remain a "brotherhood", but one that is organized and works WITH the attorneys instead of against them. We are not new people who have come in to do something different. We are the people that have done the following, and more, without wanting any recognition for it.
2. Members of The Official White House Boys Organization have:
a. Paid for all the specialized computer equipment Roger has in
his home office as well as his website and many other expenses too numerous to list.
b. Printed out important information (10,000 printed pages total) to be given to each member, such as Dr. Byrd's Testimony and Tidwell's Deposition, a form to get your records, and more. (Many of you did not pick up your packets at the reunion, and others left them on their seats, but we are in the process of mailing them to you). These packets will also include a letter from the attorneys updating you on legal matters.
c. Printed, Addressed and Mailed Reunion Announcements to you
out of THEIR OWN MONEY.
d. Made copies of the documentary clip for each member at their own expense.
e.. Do investigations and make phone calls daily to news correspondents, and report to the attornies
f. Created a website where YOU can post YOUR point of view, your photos, your stories. There will be no ONE person posting their opinions on YOUR new website.
g. Were contacted when the first Days Inn closed, and negotiated a lower rate and free conference room at the other Days Inn so we could still have the reunion.
h. Are footing the bill for the documentary, which may be the key to getting the lawsuit moving along.
i. Paid for all the water and soft drinks at the 2nd reunion out of their own pocket.
j. Tried to get food donations for the 3rd reunion, and paid for the Cake, and many of the Snacks out of their own pockets.
k. Made blankets to raffle at the 2nd reunion at their own expense, so the organization would have funding to keep it going. We have kept track of every penny our Treasurer received, and a spreadsheet will be
in the next newsletter.
l. Donated a laminating machine so we could have membership cards.
m. Has arranged for the documentary to be viewed by a large film producer, with hopes they will turn it into a film, so our story will be told.
n. Personally paid for men to attend, who would have otherwise not been able to.
o. Send cards to sick members on behalf of all the White House Boys.
p. Used their contacts at Dozier to try to negotiate us being allowed to provide Christmas gifts for the boys that are presently incarcerated.
q. Have arranged for the attorneys to have a Question and Answer section on the website:
http://theofficialwhitehouseboys.com where you can ask questions and the attorneys will answer them right on the website.
We could continue listing things that the members -- who have started a website for YOU and by YOU -- have done. But the point is that it was time to get a website where we did not threaten state officials, or parcipate in name calling. We need somewhere where everyone has a voice, but we can't allow those voices to jeopardize the lawsuit! Time and time again our attorneys have asked us to be careful what we post on the website, and we have found it necessary to make a new one where the lawsuit will NOT be jeopardized. The men will
ALWAYS BE A BROTHERHOOD. But, with over 500 men, it does take time, money, and more than one person at the helm. We will continue to be the group of men and women that represent YOUR needs and YOUR voice, but we will be doing it in a positive way. We do NOT have to defy our attornies to get things done. That is our goal. To have more than one person representing you, to be accountable to you for ALL donations, and to get things done in a way that is not in defiance of our attorneys.

Congratulations to all the Board Members. (Note: There were one or two questions as to why there were numbers on the ballots. There was NO RECORD kept of these numbers. The numbers were placed solely for the reason of keeping anyone from duplicating the ballots, in order to vote more than once. That was the ONLY reason for the numbers. The votes were 100% anonymous.)
First Annual Christmas Project
Greetings and Happy Holidays to all!
We hope you all had a good Thanksgiving. Now, Christmas is just around the corner. As you will remember, we announced that we are making every effort for the Official White House Boys Organization to focus on positive things and helping others. The announcement that we were going to start a Christmas Project was followed by phone calls from several members wishing to donate — to the tune of almost $1000 and the calls are still coming in! Our first idea, of course, was to donate to the boys at Marianna or Okeechobee, but once again the “powers that be” dragged their feet, and have finally given us a definite “No”. We will try again next year. However, there are MANY other worthy causes that we can give to — in the name of men who have attended the White House or Okochobee, and their families. As with the announcement of any project, MANY ideas came flooding in for our First Annual Christmas Project. Since there were so many different ideas, we decided to donate to as many charities as we can — all in the name of White House Boys and their families. This way, we can spread our love and goodwill to as many different organizations as possible. NO MONEY WILL COME OUT OF THE TREASURY FOR THIS PROJECT! IT IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR MEMBERS TO DONATE **IF THEY WISH TO HELP OTHERS, AND THEY HAVE THE MEANS** BUT IT IS **NOT** COMING OUT OF FUNDS IN THE TREASURY!
Although we know that the Good Book says it is best to do our giving “in secret”, we feel that this is an excellent opportunity to get our name out into the public eye, in a POSITIVE light, and help others at the same time. It will be so joyful to see the name “White House Boy” connected to something positive this Holiday Season! The world will know that although our men have been through horrific abuse, they still have a heart to give and help those less fortunate. Of course this will be a voluntary project, and donations will be made as a group, so whether your contribution is monetary, a card, or a prayer, each man and their family will be recognized, because the presentations to charities will be given on behalf of the whole group.
We have come up with a short list of charities that are in desperate need this year. We have focused on charities that help men and children that are either incarcerated, have been incarcerated, or have a parent incarcerated. Some help others as well, but all have something to do with helping people directly or indirectly involved with incarceration.
If you would like to donate to one of these, please follow the instructions beside each charity. The mailing address and other information is at the end of this article. If you choose to donate one of the charities below, we must receive it by December 12th in order to make the presentations. If you would rather donate to a local charity in your own neighborhood as a “White House Boy”, as part of this project, then please send us a photo (with names from Left to Right) and a paragraph or two about yourself and the charity you have chosen and email it to Project Leader Mike Sapp at: mikesapp007xxx@gmail.com so we can pass your story along to the press with the others. Marti Somnitz has graciously volunteered to help with all the Press Releases. (If you have a press contact in your hometown, please send a copy to them as well.). The stories and photos will also be posted on the website.
We are very excited about our First Annual Christmas Project, which will be the first time the group receives positive recognition for helping others! If you wish to join us in this endeavor, here is the list of the charities we have chosen, or as mentioned above, you can chose your own charity, and send us a photo and a story about your donation, which we give to the press along with the stories about these. Funds that have already been received for the Christmas Project will be divided among the ones below, and any donations received that are not earmarked for a specific charity will also be divided between the 3 charities that follow:
Salvation Army Christmas Angel Tree Project for Underprivledged Young People with Incarcerated Parents. Here is a link that tells you more about this project: http://helpangeltree.org/what-we-do.jsp. It is important to note that one of our brothers, Mike Sapp, was instrumental in helping to start this project! The website shown tells all about how the Salvation Army helps children at Christmastime. If you’d like to donate to this charity, please send a check made out to the Salvation Army (earmarked for Angel Tree), or you can send a new, unwrapped toy, or a coat to our post office box (info below) before December 14th and we will include them in our group donation.
The St Petersburg Free Clinic (Beacon House) – For 39 years, the St. Petersburg Free Clinic has provided temporary assistance for those who require help with basic needs. The basic needs are food, shelter, medical care, limited financial assistance, and referral information. Those who are assisted are mainly the “working poor” and those that “fall through the cracks” of other existing services. We achieve our mission through five dynamic programs: Their main website is: http://www.stpetersburgfreeclinic.org/index.html. We have narrowed our project down to 2 of their 5 programs, since they best fit our goals. We will able to make this donation in person on behalf of our group. Anyone who lives near enough to attend will be welcome to attend the presentation of our donation. Since it is in St. Petersburg, we will try our best to get the St. Petersburg Times to cover the story. Press Releases will be sent to the other media as well. The 2 groups we have chosen from the St. Petersburg Free Clinic are as follows:
Homeless Shelter for Men (Beacon House)http://www.stpetersburgfreeclinic.org/Beacon_House.html. This is a homeless shelter, feeding and housing 30 men at any given time. A list of their needs can be found on the website we’ve noted, or you can send our treasurer a check with designation “Homeless Shelter”.
Food Pantry – http://www.stpetersburgfreeclinic.org/Food_Bank.html – This is one of the oldest food pantries in the state of Florida. A list of their needs is on the website noted, or you can send a check or money order with the designation St. Petersburg “Food Pantry”.
Camp E Kel Etu, Silver Springs (Ocala Area), FL. This is an Eckerd’s Youth Alternative Camp. that serves 48 Males ages 10-18. All of the boys at this camp have been sentenced by a judge through the Dept. of Juvenile Justice. Their mission: To increase public safety by reducing juvenile delinquency through effective prevention, intervention and treatment services that strengthen families and turn around the lives of troubled youth. This is a donation we will be able to make in person as well. These boys actually camp out in the wilderness 365 days a year (except if the temperature goes below 32 degrees). It is for emotionally disturbed and moderate committed male offenders. Diane has personal experience in helping their sister camp (for girls) in Citrus County over the past 4 years. She is very impressed with the positive changes in the girls’ lives and is told the boy’s camp runs the same way. We can make this presentation “In Person” with photos to be submitted to the press and if you can make it, you are welcome to attend. SPOTLIGHT ON OUR BROTHER: Frank Marx
Frank never ceases to amaze us! He has been very busy this year doing good in the name of all White House men! Frank collected 461.38 in school supplies to give to needy children in columbia county schools and 58.42 worth of paper and supplies to a pre kindergarten class in Ellenton, FL. He has donated over $1000 worth in clothing to needy families in a church in Deep Creek, Florida. He also donated turkeys to 6 needy families in Deep Creek, FL this Thanksgiving. He does all his giving under the name of all the men who have attened the White House — in an effort to show that although these men were abused, they still have big hearts, and are productive members of society. Our hats off to Frank for all his hard work. He takes no personal credit for any of his good deeds. He credits all men who were abused at the White House.

FDLE has also, in their last report, made all of us, including myself, look like we have lied about blood all over that building!!!! I have refused to give FDLE the Statement I have at this time nor the location of said grave for good reason!!! I and many others all saw blood in that building!!!! I have a notarized, sworn, and witnessed statement that proves what happened to Edgar Elton, from a witness that was present that day!!! I am trying to get an appointment with Glen Hess, who is the State's Attorney Prosecutor I have to go to!! I am asking for a sit down for the 2 of us with him at his location choice!!!
The FDLE has made it look like no boy was ever beaten in this building by the " FINAL REPORT " they issued!!! When I questioned Berlinger and Davis as to why they even did the blood evidence, their answer was that they are required to do so!!!!!! I said, "Why didn't you put in the report that you all knew there would be NO BLOOD EVIDENCE???????????" The phone went Quiet.
I then asked them about what they found out about "TONY TURNER", the boy that was taken from my classroom to the white house and never returned to my classroom???. I then heard papers shuffling for some time and finally Davis in a sudden turn of attitude says, "Jerry, it seems nothing we say to you satisfies you at all" and I said, "YES MA'AM". You are right on track". I was glad she finally joined my club for a few minutes!!!! I asked Berlinger right then, "Let's use any of your labs to put me on polygraph about:

IMPORTANT MESSAGE REGARDING WHITE HOUSE BROTHER: FRANK MARX
Please remember our dear Brother and Sargeant at Arms, Frank Marx, and his wife / our Treasurer, Peggy, in your prayers each day. It is with a heavy heart that I report to you all that Frank has been diagnosed with cancer, and the doctors are painting a grave picture. He needs a miracle right now since the doctors are saying "3 to 6 months". 
However, we know that our Lord and Savior is a Mighty God, and if it be his will, he can keep Frank around for many more years to come, so Frank can continue doing good deeds on behalf of the White House Boys, as he has been doing for a long time now. May God watch over him, his family, and his doctors as they care for him. May Frank endure the chemo with minimal side effects. May the Lord give him the strength to attend and enjoy the fellowship of his brothers at the April reunion. May the family have the resources they need to give Frank the best care possible. May the Lord show daily mercy on him and his family. May his spirits be uplifted by phone calls, emails, cards and prayers from all his White House Brothers.
